Elkhart Riverwalk Awards
The Riverwalk in downtown Elkhart has recently been nominated for a new award, for enhancing the experience of being downtown.

Award Nomination
The Elkhart Riverwalk has been nominated for the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, a national travel list that highlights notable attractions and public spaces across the United States. The nomination places the Riverwalk among destinations competing for public votes to determine the final rankings.
Community organizations and downtown groups have encouraged residents and visitors to support the nomination by voting during the public voting period.
The Riverwalk
The Elkhart Riverwalk is a 1.5 mile pedestrian path running along the St Joseph River through the Elkhart River District and downtown Elkhart. The walkway connects parks, bridges, and recreation spaces used for walking, biking, and community events along the waterfront.
The route passes several well known downtown landmarks and provides continuous river access through one of the most active public areas of the city.
Community Support
Local groups and businesses have promoted the nomination as an opportunity to highlight Elkhart’s riverfront on a national stage. Public voting for the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards runs through early April, allowing supporters to cast votes during the competition period.
Recognition programs like the 10Best awards often bring additional attention to public spaces that combine recreation, urban design, and community gathering areas.
